Can Chiropractic Care Benefit Your Child?

June 14, 2016
Can chiropractic care benefit your child?

Many spinal problems seen in a someone as early as birth. Birthing can cause stress on an infant’s spine and developing nerve system. Colic, breathing problems, nursing difficulties, sleep disturbances, allergic reactions and chronic infections can often be traced to nerve system stress. These common newborn complaints are often caused by spinal and cranial misalignment.

Since significant spinal trauma can occur at birth, many parents have their newborns checked right away. As an infant grows, and learns to walk, crawl, and sit, this can affect spinal alignment. Chiropractic care can keep your child growing on the right track.

Did you know chiropractic pediatric care is not only for newborns?

Getting your child regular check ups with the chiropractor can prevent or help conditions such as ear infections, asthma, allergies, and headaches (to name a few). Regular check ups or adjustments can help prevent health complaints later see in adults.

It is important to understand that the Doctor of Chiropractic does not treat conditions or diseases. The expertise of the chiropractor is in checking the child’s spine for mis-alignments that impair nerve system function therefore affecting overall body function.

Do you or someone you know suffer from pulmonary disease?

Do you or someone you know suffer from pulmonary disease?

Asthma affects over 17 million Americans as well as COPD.
Often, during the warm months children and adults with a lung disease can have flare ups.

Pulmonary diseases cause many symptoms such as blockage of airways, shortness of breath, tightness in chest, wheezing, and a cough to name a few. Many individuals with this disease have resolved maintenance of the illness by using inhalers. However, Chiropractic care has been shown to help improve the condition with regular chiropractic treatments.

Chiropractic treatment involves the realignment of the spine and therefore the nerves. Chiropractic manipulation can eliminate obstruction during nerve impulse conduction to the lungs and airway. When adjusted, your body is restored to its natural state of alignment, nerves can then function as they should, allowing the lungs to function properly.

Chiropractic care can also benefit by fixing musculoskeletal alignment problems in the ribcage and spine. When this is done, the thoracic cavity is free to expland like it should.

There is a study performed by Graham and Pistolese. The study was performed on 81 asthmatic patients before the start of chiropractic care and two months after their care. The results of this study showed improvment in 90.1% of patients 60 days after chiropractic care. The patients also reported nearly 50% reduction of frequency of asthma attacks.

Life style changes like chiropractic care can be an asset in the lung disease treatment process.
